Tulsa Drillers outfielder Tim Wheeler is enjoying a tremendous 2011 season. Today he was named the Texas Leagues’ May Topps Player of the Month. Here is the official release from Topps:
Tim Wheeler (23) of Sacramento, Calif., led Texas League hitters with a .389 batting average, 79 total bases, 18 extra-base hits and a 1.169 OPS last month. The Tulsa Drillers center fielder ranked second in the league with 24 RBIs and 25 runs. The Colorado Rockies drafted Wheeler in the first round in 2009 out of Cal. State Sacramento.
Wheeer could be looking at a promotion to the Sky Sox eventually if this production continues.
