The Tucson Padres defeated the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 9-3 Sunday night to complete a four game sweep in front of 1,873 fans at Hi Corbett Field.
The Sky Sox took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on RBI singles by Chris Nelson and Brad Emaus.
Trailing 2-1 in the third inning, the Padres erupted for five runs on RBI singles by Anthony Rizzo, Aaron Cunningham, and Matt Clark and an RBI double by Luis Martinez.
The Padres would add to their lead with three more runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Jesus Guzman and a two-run single by Cunningham to make it 9-1.
Billy Buckner (0-1, 8.06) took the loss for the Sky Sox allowing nine runs on nine hits over 3.1 innings. Wade LeBlanc (1-0, 6.04) picked up his first win of the year for the Padres allowing three runs on eight hits in seven innings of work.
The loss drops the Sky Sox to 11-13 on the season as they have now lost a season high four games in a row on the heels of a season best six game win streak.
With the win, the Padres improve to 12-12 on the season.
The Sky Sox will look to returning to their winnings ways as they return home for a four game set with the Fresno Grizzlies starting Monday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM MT tonight.
