Sox Scribbles: Caught in the Cycle

The Sky Sox dropped game one of their four game series with the Omaha storm chasers 16-11 Saturday night. Omaha was sparked by Lorenzo Cain’s cycle including a first inning grand slam off of Sox starter Alan Johnson. It was the third slam Alan has given up in a Sky Sox uniform tying him for second most in Sox history.

Eric Young Jr. was the catalyst for the Sox offensive effort, hitting his team-leading sixth triple of the year and finishing 2-for-4 with three runs scored, 2RBI and 2 stolen bases. Mike Jacobs had three RBI for the Sox in the losing effort.

The Sox scored in double digits for the fifth straight game, but are only 3-2 in those games. It’s the first time the Sox have scored in double digits in that many consecutive games in over 12 years.

The Sox currently trail the Storm Chasers in game two 10-2 in the top of the 7th inning. Check back later for updates on the conclusion of this game.
