Blackmon To Rockies

Charlie Blackmon was officially promoted to the Rockies this afternoon, joining former Sky Sox Rex Brothers, Chris Nelson, Eric Young Jr., Clayton Mortensen, and Greg Reynolds on the big league club.

Blackmon had been enjoying a tremendous season with the Sox,  leading the PCL in at bats (243) and hits (82), tied for third in extra-base hits (33), fourth in total bases (139), tied for fourth in RBI (49) and tied for fifth in runs (49). He also lead the Sky Sox in home runs (10) and doubles (19). After recording multiple hits in only two of the first seven games, Blackmon recorded 27 multi-hit games in his past 48 games.

He was also leading the PCL in outfield assists with 11, including six runners that he gunned down at home plate.

The Sox will surely miss Blackmon’s production, as they have with EY, Nelson and the others. Let’s hope the young Sky Sox reinforcements can help the Rockies turn their season around.
