Yesterday, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox defeated the Salt Lake Bees, 7-0 . Starting pitcher Chris Volstad threw seven scoreless innings and the Sox hit four home runs to end their four-game skid. Here are some audio highlights from the voice of the Sky Sox, Dan Karcher.
In the first inning Charlie Blackmon drove home Josh Rutledge for the team’s first run of the game.
After three scoreless innings, Tyler Colvin blasted his ninth HR to give the Sox the 2-0 lead in the fifth.
Charlie Blackmon hit a single in the sixth and Rutledge then scores on a throwing error by Matt Long to make it 3-0.
In the seventh inning, Charlie Culberson clubbed his seventh HR of the year and the team’s second of the day.
The team continued their offensive onslaught in the eighth when Corey Dickerson blasted a dinger of his own.
In the top of the ninth inning, Drew Garcia hit a two-run shot, his first in a Sky Sox uniform, to give the team their sixth and seventh runs of the day.
