The Sky Sox welcome in the Nashville Sounds (Oakland A’s affiliate) for the first of a four-game series tonight at Security Service Field. Mother Nature got the best of the teams again yesterday, thanks to unplayable field conditions, but we should be good for two today!
The back-end of the season-opening road trip was spent at First Tennessee Park and saw the two teams split the series. The Sox won the second and fourth games of the series, but were outscored 18-13 in the series.
Colorado Springs Sky Sox (5-5) vs. Nashville Sounds (5-6) – Security Service Field – DOUBLEHEADER

He struck out seven and finished his outing by retiring the final 16 Sounds he faced.
Today will be Guerra’s 75th outing in the minors and just his 19th start with 11 different teams. He made three appearances out of the White Sox’s bullpen in 2015 and wen 0-0 with a 6.75 ERA in four innings of work.
2016 Game Log:
Sounds Pitcher: RHP Jesse Hahn has been pretty near perfect to begin his 2016 season. In 12-scoreless innings the righty allowed a total of 10 baserunners (6 hits and 4 walks) while striking out 11. Hahn was one of the latest cuts out of Oakland’s spring training as the A’s filled their rotation with Gray, Bassitt, Graveman, Hill, and Surkamp. Hahn’s last start came against Guerra and the Sox at First Tennessee Park. The righty was outdueled by the Sky Sox righty, but pitched 6-scoreless, scattering 4 hits, walking one and striking out 6.
Hahn is 6-4 with a minuscule 2.10 ERA in 49-career appearances in MiLB and 13-10 with a 3.23 ERA in 30 big league games with Oakland and San Diego.
2016 Game Log:
Pitching Matchup For Game 2: RHP Ariel Pena (0-0, 0.00) vs. LHP Dillon Overton (0-1, 4.00 ERA)
Sky Sox Pitcher: RHP Ariel Pena is set to make his 2016 debut with the Sox in game two of the doubleheader. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound righty broke spring training with the Brewers and made his lone appearance on Opening Day. He gave up 5 runs on 5 hits, three of which were back-to-back-to-back homers in 1 2/3 innings against the San Francisco Giants.
The righty broke into professional baseball in 2007 in the Dominican Summer League Angels. He pitched within the LA system until the 2012 season when he was acquired by the Brewers. Pena made 43 appearances (7 starts) with Colorado Springs in 2015 and went 2-2 with a save and a 4.14 ERA. The native of the Dominican Republic went 0-1 with an 8.59 ERA in six appearances against Memphis last season
2016 Game Log: Has not pitched with Colorado Springs.
Sounds Pitcher: LHP Dillon Overton gets the nod in the second tilt of the day. Overton was selected by the Athletics in the 2nd round of the 2013 Draft of of the University of Oklahoma. He missed the 2013 campaign, thus the 2016 season marks his in third professional baseball. He has a career record of 7-10 with a 3.14 ERA in 41 games, 39 of which have come in the starting role.
Through his first two career starts in Triple-A, the southpaw is 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 16 hits, 2 walks and 10 strikeouts.
