The Sky Sox could not get home fast enough following the 7-2 loss to the Reno Aces Thursday night. The defeat sent Colorado Springs back home with an 0-8 record on the road trip and winless in the second stint of the season. The offense tallied 20 runs on 53 hits over the 8 contests, averaging 2.5 runs and 6.6 hits per tilt, not enough to get it done. Matt Buschmann limited the Sox to 2 runs over 8 1/3 innings and Mitch Haniger paced Reno with a 4-for-5 night at the plate. Michael Reed hit a solo shot to the opposite field and Garin Cecchini brought home a run in the ninth with a single. Aaron Wilkerson took the loss for the Sox.
Tonight the Sky Sox return to Security Service Field, a place where they have won 27 of 46 matchups, and look to end their 8 game losing streak in the first of four tonight against the Round Rock Express. They enter play seven games under .500 at 44-51 and still in second place, however now 10 games in back of the Oklahoma City Dodgers. In hopes of getting back to its winning ways, Colorado Springs will send lefty Brent Suter to the mound against right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez of the Express. Suter enters play tonight with a 3-4 record and 3.91 ERA, while with Round Rock Gonzalez is 4-6 with a 4.69 ERA. In 2016 the Sky Sox are 4-4 against the Express, they hold an all-time record of 34-42 against them and are 14-20 between them at Security Service Field.

Pitching Matchup: LHP Brent Suter (3-4, 3.91) vs. RHP Chi Chi Gonzalez (4-6, 4.69)
Sky Sox Pitcher: Lefty Brent Suter is ready to fill the role of starter for the 11th time in 2016 when he climbs the hill this evening at Security Service Field. Suter is 3-4 with two saves and a 3.91 ERA allowing 35 runs (34 earned) on 97 hits, 2 homers, 12 walks, and 53 strikeouts in 78 1/3 innings. Opponents in the PCL are hitting .321 against the southpaw from Cincinnati. The Harvard graduate is 3-2 with a 3.97 ERA in 11 home appearances and 2-4 with a 4.96 ERA as a starter. His last seven outings have been great as he is 1-1-1 with a 1.42 ERA allowing 3 earned runs on 21 hits in 19 innings. His last start was against Iowa at home on July 8 where he fell one out shy of the win with 4 1/3 innings of two-run ball. The lefty has pitched twice out of the pen against Round Rock this season and is 0-0-1 with a 6.75 ERA allowing 4 runs on 9 hits over 5 1/3 innings. Suter was selected by the Brewers in the 31st round out of Harvard University. In 113 career minor-league outings, the lefty is 32-30 with 4 saves and a 3.43 ERA covering five seasons.
Last Time Out: 7/18/16 at Reno – Suter came out of the bullpen and recorded four outs in scoreless fashion. He gave up a pair of hits and recorded two strikeouts on 21 pitches, 16 for strikes.

Express Pitcher: Right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez gets the call to start for the 17th time in an Express uniform tonight against the Sky Sox. Through his first 16 PCL outings (15 starts) the righty is 4-6 with a 4.69 ERA allowing 47 runs (46 earned) on 93 hits, 3 homers, 27 walks, and 58 strikeouts in 88 1/3 innings. Opponents in Triple-A are getting after Gonzalez at a .278 clip. He has also made 3 starts for the Rangers in which he has gone 0-2 with an 8.71 ERA giving up 13 runs (10 earned) on 21 hits, 9 walks and 7 strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings. Gonzalez has faced the Sox on one occasion this season and it came at Security Service Field on May 2. He didn’t get a decision and allowed 6 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts in 5 innings of work in a game the Express won 11-10. Gonzalez was drafted by the Rangers in the first round of the 2013 draft out of Oral Roberts University. Over the first four seasons of his pro career, the right is 24-23 with a 3.52 ERA in 72 minor-league games and is 4-8 with a 4.54 ERA through his first 17 big-league games.
Last Time Out: 7/17/16 vs. Sacramento – Gonzalez spun a beauty his last trip to the mound against the River Cats at Dell Diamond. He earned the win with 7 strong innings allowing 1 run on 6 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. He threw 110 pitches, 68 for strikes in a game the Express won 6-1.
