Hiram Burgos takes the hill for the 21st time this season and 11th time at home tonight (on his 29th birthday) against the Sounds. He has faced the Sounds on one other occasion this year, which came back on April 11 in his first start of 2016. (Bobby Stevens/MiLB.com)

To say Lewis Brinson is making an immediate impact would be a gross understatement. The centerfielder went 4-for-4 with 3 runs scored in his debut with Colorado Springs and then backed that up with a seventh inning go-ahead grand slam in Wednesday night’s tilt, which gave the Sky Sox the 4-1 win. He is 6-8 in two games and 19-for-38 through his first 10 Triple-A games overall. Josh Hader turned in a great performance Wednesday too, allowing one run on 5 hits and 8 strikeouts in six innings of work. He didn’t factor in the win, but collected another quality start. Sam Freeman earned his first win of the season with a scoreless inning and Damien Magnifico locked down his 14th save of the season with two scoreless innings.

Tonight, the Sky Sox get ready to face the Nashville Sounds for the second of four and the sixth game of the eight-game homestand tonight at Security Service Field. The Sky Sox continue to play well at the friendly confines of SSF where they are 35-20 in 55 games. They enter play at an even .500 at 54-54 and still in second place now just 7 games in back of the Dodgers. In hopes of continuing its winning ways and gaining more ground on or keeping pace with OKC, Colorado Springs will send electric veteran workhorse Hiram Burgos to the hill, while the Sounds will counter with their newest arm, Jharel Cotton. Burgos enters play tonight with a 5-8 record and 5.06 ERA in 20 games (18 starts) and for the Sounds, Cotton will make his debut since coming over from the Dodgers where he was 8-5 with a 4.50 ERA. In 2016 the Sky Sox are 7-6 against the Sounds, they hold an all-time record of 75-84 against them and are 34-47 between the lines at Security Service Field.
