Colorado Springs has brought the wood to this past homestand and that continued Thursday night against El Paso in the form of a 13-5 win. Drew Gagnon made the spot start and gave up the five runs early, but gave the Sox a good enough start, particularly with the way their offense delivered nine runs over the first two innings. Garrett Cooper tied the game 4-4 with a 3-run homer in the first inning, Domingo Santana came in with the second of his three hits, a 2-run double in the second, and Garin Cecchini put it out of reach with a two run homer in the second as well. Santana went on to reach base five times with three hits  and two walks and drove in five, while Cooper gave the Sox four RBI. @DimTillard, pardon me, Tim Dillard got the win for the Sox in relief.

Before we dive into tonight’s tilt, the Brewers and Sky Sox have announced the following transactions over the past few days –

ADD: RHP Brooks Hall transferred from Double-A Biloxi to Colorado Springs

INF Andy Wilkins optioned from Milwaukee to Colorado Springs

RHP Damien Magnifico optioned from Milwaukee

DEL: LHP Brent Suter selected by Milwaukee

C Parker Berberet placed on the disabled list, retroactive to August 18

HUGE congrats are in order for Suter who made his MLB debut in Seattle yesterday evening in Seattle.

After the cancelled game against El Paso Friday night, the Sky Sox have traveled to Texas and are set to open up a four-game series against the Express tonight at Dell Diamond in Round Rock. This is the fourth and final time these two teams will get together here in 2016. The Sky Sox enter play looking to continue their winning ways and come into Saturday’s tilt with a home record of 22-35. They are back to two games under .500 at 60-62 and sit in second place, but now are 8.5 games in back of the Dodgers. In hopes of gaining more ground on or keeping pace with OKC, Colorado Springs will send veteran right-hander Hiram Burgos to the mound 24th time this season, he will throw against 21-year old lefty  Yohander Mendez. Burgos enters tonight’s tilt 7-9 with a 4.83 ERA in his 23 appearances with the Sox, while Mendez is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 4 outings spanning 19 1/3 innings. The Sox are 8-4 against the Express here in 2016 and have compiled a 38-42 all-time record against them and are 20-22 at Dell Diamond.
