The Sox took home the series opener 5-1 and gained a game on the first-place OKC Dodgers Wednesday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Drew Gagnon, Austin Ross, Sam Freeman and Ben Rowen combined to hold the Dodgers down to a run on seven hits, while the offense picked up 5 runs on 10 hits en route to the four-run victory. Lewis Brinson led the charge with three hits and three RBI. The win marked the fourth straight victory for the Sox over the Dodgers.
Tonight, the Sky Sox and Dodgers get ready for the second game of the five-game series at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. This is the fourth, final and LARGEST series these two teams will play here in 2016. The Sky Sox enter play looking to continue their winning ways and come into Thursday’s tilt with a road record of 25-37. They are back to one game under .500 at 63-64 and sit in second place and now are 7.5 games in back of the Dodgers with their tragic number at 5. In hopes of gaining more ground on OKC, Colorado Springs will send right-hander Hiram Burgos to the mound against fellow righy Logan Bawcom of the Dodgers. Burgos returns to the hill following a career-high 11 strikeout performance against the Express and is 8-9 with a 4.60 ERA, while Bawcom is 5-4 with a 1.73 ERA with Oklahoma City. The Sox are 6-6 against the Dodgers and have taken the last four games of the season series, here in 2016 and have compiled a 68-91 all-time record against them and are 25-53 at Bricktown.

Sky Sox Pitcher: RHP Hiram Burgos will make his 25th trip to the mound for the Sky Sox and 23nd from the starting role tonight against the Dodgers. Through his first 24 appearances, the righty is 8-9 with a 4.60 ERA allowing 70 runs (64 earned) on 142 hits, 52 walks and 101 strikeouts in 125 1/3 innings. He is 3-4 in his last eight outings and has given up 24 earned runs on 53 hits in 50 innings. His last three outings have come in winning fashion against the Omaha Storm Chasers at Werner Park, Albuquerque Isotopes at Security Service Field and the Round Rock Express at Dell Diamond. 8/20/16 at Round Rock – Burgos turned in the best outing of his season against the Express his last trip to the hill. The righty held the Trains to 2 hits over six innings, he walked one and struck out a career-high 11 batters. He outdueled Yohander Mendez and threw 97 pitches, 63 for strikes in a game he and the Sky Sox won 2-0.
