A Minute in Maryvale: 3.24.17

With one week until Spring Training camp breaks for the 2017 regular season, the thermometer in Colorado Springs read somewhere between the mid-30s and the low 40s.

The blizzard warning that popped onto radars and radio stations across the city when the weather was still in the 60s and 70s came to fruition last night, as locals awoke to several inches of snow on the ground across El Paso County.

One state away, with the weather sunnier and almost 30 to 40 degrees warmer, the Milwaukee Brewers ran into a buzzsaw Thursday, falling to 14-12-1 in Cactus League play after a tough loss to the Oakland Athletics in Mesa.

The A’s (14-12) scored 12 runs in the first four innings, highlighted by a pair of home runs from Yonder Alonso and single home runs from Max Schrock and Trevor Plouffe to knock Junior Guerra from the game.

Five different Brewers recorded a RBI during Milwaukee’s two-run seventh inning and three-run ninth inning. The Crew looks to rebound Friday afternoon in the third meeting and rubber match of the spring with the Cincinnati Reds in Goodyear at 2:05 p.m. MT. Tommy Milone and Chase Anderson are scheduled to split the start against Cincinnati’s Sal Romano.
