Sox Scribbles: Four on the Fourth
The Sox snapped a five-game losing streak last night, defeating the Tacoma Rainiers 9-4 behind a home run and four RBI from Mike Jacobs. Jacobs’ home run, an opposite field three-run shot, gave the Sox a 3-2 lead in the first.
In the process, Jacobs took over the team lead with 15 home runs. He had previously been tied with Ian Stewart at 14.
The announced attendance of 8,865 was the seventh largest regular season crowd in Sky Sox history and eighth largest overall. It is the largest attendance since Security
Service field was renovated during the 2004 and ’05 seasons. The one non regular season game was an exhibition game between the Sox and Rockies on April 21st, 2004 with an announced attendance of 8,947.
- In case you missed it, outfielder Cole Garner was called up Monday to replace the injured Carlos Gonzalez and recorded his first Major League at-bat in the Rockies 4-1 loss to Atlanta. Garner flew out to right in the at-bat.
