The Sky Sox fell behind 2-0 in the first inning of last night’s tilt against the Redbirds, tallied one of their own in the third, but couldn’t muster anything else against J.C. Sulbaran or the Memphis bullpen and fell 2-1 in the second game of the series and season.
Hitting Notes: 3B Garin Cecchini made his first start at the hot corner and went 2-for-4 at the plate. He’s currently the team leader in hits with three through the first two games (3-for-6).
C Josmil Pinto went 1-for-4 with the lone run scored in the game. More notably, Pinto became the 1,000th player in Sky Sox history. According to Sky Sox team historian Chris Moyer there were 990 Sky Sox players in franchise history entering the 2016 season. Below is the list of 10 that made their debuts this season. Thanks Chris!
#991 – Orlando Arcia
#992 – Andy Wilkins
#993 – Will Middlebrooks
#994 – Hernan Perez
#995 – Manny Pina
#996 – Garin Cecchini
#997 – Jake Elmore

#999 – Junior Guerra
#1000 – Josmil Pinto
Through the first two games the Sky Sox are hitting 12-for-62 (.194) and are 3-for-24 (.125) with runners in scoring position.
Pitching : RHP Junior Guerra added another team to his extensive resume with his six-inning performance last night. The righty gave up the two runs in the first, but settled in and allowed the two tallies on four hits, while walking only two and striking out eight. A solid introduction to the Brewers system for the veteran.
Yesterday’s Sky Sox Warmup Interview with Garin Cecchini: Voice of the Sky Sox Dan Karcher caught up with Ceech prior to Friday’s game in Memphis.
Play of the Game: Michael Reed comes out of NOWHERE to make a diving catch on a fly ball in shallow left-center field.
Stay tuned for today’s game notes and preview of game three of 2016!
