The Sky Sox were kept out of the run column and fell to the Redbirds 4-0 in Saturday night’s tilt in Memphis. The two teams wrap up their series with a 1:05 p.m. game this afternoon. NOTE: Due to the quick turnaround this blog will be a combo of Quick Hits (the recap of last night’s game) and Sox Scribbles (preview of the game at hand).

Today’s Game Notes / Listen Live at 12:30 MDT

Pitching Matchup: RHP Jorge Lopez (0-0, 0.00) at RHP Thomas Lee (0-0, 0.00)

Sky Sox Pitcher: RHP Jorge Lopez enters the 2016 season as the top pitching prospect in the Brewers system according to both MLB Pipeline and Baseball America. The 6’3″ righty has yet to make an appearance in AAA despite making two starts for the Brewers as a September call-up in 2015. The native of Puerto Rico went 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA in the two big-league tilts. The win came in his MLB debut against the Padres at Petco Park on September 29. He allowed three runs on eight hits, walked two and struck out seven.

Lopez works consistently with a fastball, sinker, curveball, and changeup.

Redbirds Pitcher: RHP Thomas Lee gets the nod for the Redbirds in the series finale Sunday afternoon. The California native is set to begin his second stint in Triple-A following a very productive 3-1, 1.62 ERA campaign in 2015. The righty split time between Double-A Springfield and Memphis and put together an 11-5, 3.43 ERA season in 28 games, 20 of which were starts. Lee was signed by the Cardinals as a non-drafted free agent in June 2012. He did not face the Sky Sox during his brief Triple-A tenure in 2015.
