The Sky Sox wrapped up their road trip with a come-from-behind 7-5 win over the Nashville Sounds Thursday night and are poised to begin their home season tonight at 6:35 MDT against the Memphis Redbirds (Cardinals affiliate). Colorado Springs opened the season in Memphis and bookended the four-game series with victories and departed AutoZone Park with a 2-2 record. Tonight marks the first game of an 8-game homestand which will feature the Nashville Sounds in town four the final four games.

Today’s Game NotesListen Live at 6:00 MDT

Colorado Springs Sky Sox (4-4) vs. Memphis Redbirds (4-4)

Pitching Matchup: RHP Jorge Lopez (0-0, 7.36) vs. RHP Thomas Lee  (0-1, 7.20) – A rematch of Sunday’s affair in Memphis.

Sky Sox Pitcher: RHP Jorge Lopez gets the nod for the Sky Sox in tonight’s home opener. Lopez is rated by both Baseball America and MLB Pipeline as the Brewers top pitching prospect. The righty couldn’t make it out of fourth inning on Sunday in Memphis and recorded a no-decision. In 3 2/3 innings he allowed 3 runs (all earned) on 6 hits, 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. He threw 84 pitches, 50 of which crossed the plate in his Triple-A debut.

There is no doubt Lopez hopes to improve on that performance and dazzle the home crowd tonight at Security Service Field.

Redbirds Pitcher: RHP Thomas Lee opposed Lopez on the bump Sunday at AutoZone Park and took the loss for the Redbirds. The righty gave up 12 of the 15 hits the Sox picked up in the game. Orlando Arcia, Josmil Pinto, Alex Presley, and Michael Reed each had two hits against the 26-year old Lee in Sunday’s game. The tagged the righty for 5 runs (4 earned) on the 12 hits while he walked 2 and struck out 1. Lee is 28-15 with a modest 3.38 ERA in 99 career games, 36 of which have been starts.
