The Sky Sox picked up their fourth straight victory in the form of an 8-5 win over the Round Rock Express last night at Dell Diamond. Michael Reed, Andy Wilkins, and Jake Elmore all left the yard in support of Hiram Burgos who earned the fourth win of his season, first on the road. Colorado Springs scored all of its runs in the first three innings and held on late to down the Rangers’ top affiliate. Damien Magnifico recorded four outs for his 12th save and Burgos and catcher Rene Garcia combined to pick off three runners.
Tonight, the Sky Sox look to match their season-high winning streak of five with another victory over the Express. In hopes of doing that, the Sky Sox will send righty Wily Peralta to the mound, while the Express will counter with southpaw Michael Roth. Peralta has made two starts with Colorado Springs since being optioned from Milwaukee and is 0-1 with a 12.15 ERA in 6 2/3 innings while Roth is among the PCL leaders with a 6-3 record and 2.99 ERA in 16 games (11 starts). he Sky Sox and Express have squared off in five games this season between Security Service Field and Dell Diamond with Round Rock winning three of the five matchups. All time the Sox are 32-41 against the Express and 18-21 on the road. Colorado Springs is one game under-.500 for the first time since June 6th when they picked up the 2-1 win over New Orleans.

Sky Sox Pitcher: RHP Wily Peralta climbs the hill for Colorado Springs tonight in the second game of the series against the Express and is set to make his third start with the Sky Sox. The previous two came at home. The righty is 0-1 with a 12.15 ERA after his two starts, in which he allowed 10 runs (9 earned) on 13 hits, 2 homers, 4 walks, and struck out 7 in 6 2/3 innings of work. The righty took the loss in the series opener against Memphis and allowed 7 runs (6 earned) on 8 hits in 3 innings. Peralta was the opening day starter for the Brewers and made 13 starts for the big-league squad before being optioned to Colorado Springs on June 12. He compiled a 4-7 record with a 6.68 ERA and allowed 52 runs (49 earned) on 97 hits, 12 homers, 27 walks and 42 strikeouts in 66 innings. The righty hasn’t been in the minors full-time since 2012 when he made 28 starts with Triple-A Nashville. In 103 MLB games, Peralta is 39-44 with a 4.33 ERA and in 143 MiLB games he is 33-36 with a 4.03 ERA. He was originally signed by the Brewers as an international free agent in 2005 out of the Dominican Republic.
Last Time Out: 6/21/16 vs. Memphis – Peralta started and threw three innings for the Sky Sox in the opener of their 6-game series against the Redbirds at Security Service Field. He was tagged for 7 runs (6 earned, on 8 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts over the three frames. He threw 52 pitches, 30 for strikes in a game the Sky Sox would drop, 11-5 thanks in part to the six-run second Memphis notched against the righty.

Express Pitcher: Lefty Michael Roth is tabbed to get the start against the Sky Sox in the second tilt of the series at Dell Diamond. Roth will make his third appearance against the Sky Sox and 17 appearance on the season overall. Through his first 16, 11 of which have been starts, Roth is 6-3 with a 2.99 ERA allowing 24 runs on 64 hits, 4 homers, 19 walks, and 49 strikeouts in 72 1/3 innings. Opponents are hitting .240 against the lefty who hails from Greer, South Carolina. In his two appearances against the Sky Sox, he is 0-0 with a 3.86 ERA allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, 1 walk and 4 strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings over one start and one relief appearance. Roth allowed the two runs in the first inning, but settled in for the next 5 2/3 frames.
