Josh Hader replicated what Hiram Burgos did in the opener of the series and bettered him with one more strikeout in the Sox 6-0 win over the Express Sunday evening at Dell Diamond. Hader turned in six scoreless inning, scattered two hits, walked one, and struck out 12, establishing a career-high for himself. Sam Freeman struck out four of the five outs he recorded and Ben Rowen K’d two more Express and racked the Sox pitching staff total to 18 strikeouts, the most they have recorded in a nine-inning game in franchise history. They have now struck out 33 batters in two games against the Express and have won 8 straight against Round Rock. Eric Young, Jr. provided the pop with two hits and four RBI and Brandon Macias cleaned up with a two-run homer in the sixth giving the Sox the final 6-0 margin.
This evening, the Sky Sox and Express get ready for the third game of a four-game series against the Express tonight at Dell Diamond in Round Rock. This is the fourth and final series these two teams will play here in 2016. The Sky Sox enter play looking to continue their winning ways and come into Monday’s tilt with a road record of 24-35. They are back to .500 at 62-62 and sit in second place, but now are just 6.5 games in back of the Dodgers. In hopes of gaining more ground on or keeping pace with OKC, Colorado Springs will send lefty Wei-Chung Wang to the hill against fellow left-hander and PCL rookie Victor Payano. Wang is 1-0 with a 2.31 ERA in two starts with the Sox and Payano enters play 1-1 with a 10.97 ERA through three appearances (1 start) with the Express. The Sox are 10-4 against the Express and have taken the last eight games of the season series, here in 2016 and have compiled a 40-42 all-time record against them and are 22-22 at Dell Diamond.

Pitching Matchup: LHP Wei-Chung Wang (1-0, 2.31) at LHP Victor Payano (1-1, 10.97)
Sky Sox Pitcher: Lefty Wei-Chung Wang has remained on the Sky Sox roster and is ready to make the fourth Triple-A start of his career tonight against Round Rock. In two starts with Colorado Springs, the southpaw has an unblemished 1-0 record and a 2.31 ERA thanks to 11 2/3 innings against Omaha and El Paso in which he’s allowed just 4 runs (3 earned) on 14 hits, and 10 strikeouts. In 19 starts with Biloxi the southpaw went 6-5 with a 3.52 ERA and allowed 45 runs (42 earned) on 102 hits, 7 homes, 1 hit batter, 33 walks, and 91 strikeouts in 107 1/3 innings. Opponents were hitting .258 against the Taiwan native. He made one appearance with the Sky Sox last year and did nothing but toss six scoreless innings against the Zephyrs on September 6, 2015 at Security Service Field. He scattered four hits, didn’t walk anyone and struck out five. Wang was signed by the Pirates as a free agent in 2011 and selected by the Brewers in the Rule 5 draft in December 2013. In four professional seasons, Wang has gone 20-16 with a 3.40 ERA in 66 appearances (64 starts) in the Minor Leagues, and is 0-0 with a 10.90 ERA in 14 MLB appearances with the Brewers.
8/15/16 vs. El Paso – Wang was “roughed up” for the first time in Triple-A and went 6 2/3 innings allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, didn’t walk a batter and struck out 5. His offense gave him 11 runs of support and he hauled in the first Triple-A win of his career. He threw 98 pitches, 68 of which went for strikes.

Express Pitcher: Lefty Victor Payano gets the call for the Express in what will be his fourth Triple-A appearance and second start. He comes in having compiled a 1-1 record with a 10.97 ERA over his first three and has allowed 13 runs on 11 hits, 3 homers 9 walks and 7 strikeouts across 10 2/3 innings with Round Rock. Opponents in the PCL are hitting .282 against the lefty from the Dominican Republic. In 22 appearances combined between Double-A Frisco and Round Rock, Payano is 8-7 with a 4.72 ERA allowing 64 runs (58 earned ) on 117 hits in 110 2/3 innings. He had the tall task of facing the Oklahoma City Dodgers in his AAA debut and was tagged for 5 runs on 2 hits, walked 4 and struck out 1 in 1 1/3 innings of relief. His lone start came the last time out against Las Vegas at Cashman Field. Payano was signed by the Rangers as a non-drafted free agent in February 2010 and has made 159 appearances in the Rangers system over seven pro seasons. He is 33-40 with 1 save and a 4.89 ERA in those 159 outings, 122 of which have been starts.
Last Time Out: 8/16/16 at Las Vegas – Payano made his first Triple-A start against the 51s his last trip to the hill in Sin City. He was greeted by four runs in the first inning and went on to give up six total over 5 1/3 innings. He did not get a decision because the offense exploded for 10 runs in the 10-8 win. His final line read 6 runs on 7 hits, 2 walks and 6 strikeouts over his 5 1/3 frames. He threw 91 pitches, 55 for strikes.
