SOX STARTER NOTES:  Left-hander Edwar Cabrera makes his Security Service Field debut, after setting a record for most striekouts in a Sky Sox debut with 13 against Sacramento on July 2nd which was part of the team record 17-strikeout performance for the Sky Sox.  The 13 K’s were tied for the second most by a Sky Sox player in a game, one shy of the record set by John Thompson on May 5th, 1997 when he struck out 14 batters in 7 innings pitched at Tucson.  Cabrera tied the mark for second place held by Mark Brownson, who struck out 13 batters in a complete game win at New Orleans on May 11th, 1999.  Earlier in the 2012 season, Cabrera led theTulsa Drillers in strikeouts (82), starter’s ERA, innings (98.0), WHIP (0.90) and batting average against (.186) and made his Major League debut for the Rockies on 6/27 at Coors Field against the Washington Nationals and gave up seven runs (five earned) in 2.1 innings.

DOUBLING UP: The Sky Sox are currently tied with Las Vegas and Albuquerque for the second most doubles in the PCL at 197, trailing Reno’s 217 doubles on the year.  Since the start of June, Colorado Springs leads the PCL with 97 doubles (87 in June, 12 more than any other team) with Reno totaling 89 during that same time frame (the Aces have already totaled 18 doubles this month).  Sox first baseman Chad Tracy leads the PCL with 16 doubles since June 1st, and is tied with teammates Andrew Brown and Matt McBride for the third most doubles in the league at 26 while Aces outfielder Adam Eaton ranks second with 29 doubles trailing only Albuquerque’s Luis Cruz’ 31 for the league lead.

HOME SWEET HOME?: The Sky Sox have lost four of their last five home games against the Aces, and in those four losses Colorado Springs has been outscored 39-14 and outhit 53-36 by Reno.
