Edwar Cabrera Makes Sky Sox History…Again:
Colorado Springs left-hander Edwar Cabrera continues to rewrite the Sox record book in only two games played for Sky Sox, as he set the record for most strikeouts in a Sox debut in his first game with 13 against Sacramento (as part of a team record 17 strikeouts in that game) then became just the second Sky Sox pitcher in team history to hit a grand slam in last night’s ballgame and first ever at Security Service Field. The first Sky Sox pitcher to pull off the grand slam feat was Brian Conroy on July 23, 1994 against Phoenix. Cabrera’s homer was his first extra-base hit of his career (and third overall hit) and it was the first homer by a Sky Sox pitcher since Brandon Hynick against Fresno on June 2, 2009. Sky Sox pitchers have now hit 24 homers in team history, 12 on the road and 12 at home.
